
Sudurpaschim, August 25
Nearly 300 people have been infected with dengue fever in the past eight months across districts of Sudurpaschim Province.
According to the Health Directorate, Dipayal, a total of 288 dengue cases have been confirmed, with the highest number reported in Kailali district, followed by Achham and Kanchanpur. Kailali recorded 65 cases, Achham 41, and Kanchanpur 32 during the review period.
Even mountainous districts reported infections, with Darchula recording four cases and Bajura 18. Similarly, Dadeldhura, Doti, Bajhang, and Baitadi together accounted for 88 confirmed cases.
Vector Control Officer at the Directorate, Hemraj Joshi, urged communities to remain cautious from June to October, the peak transmission period for dengue. He emphasised that local-level efforts should focus on “search and destroy” campaigns targeting mosquito larvae to curb the spread of the disease.
