Kathmandu, August 7

Ruling Nepal Communist Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal says the Constitutional Council will recommend the name for new Chief Justice within next two days.

The Council is due to make the nomination as the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee rejected the name of Acting Chief Justice Deepak Raj Joshee for the position last week.

Speaking with journalists in Birgunj of Parsa district on Tuesday, Dahal said the ruling party was aware that the judicial leadership of the country should not be left vacant for long.

Dahal said he had a meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who heads the Council, on Monday, during which Oli said appointments to all vacant constitutional positions would be made soon.

In another context, he informed that the party’s leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha was still working as the party spokesperson though media reported that he submitted his resignation.
