Court refuses to register Resham Chaudhary’s writ demanding victory certificate through proxy

File: Resham Lal Chaudhary

Kathmandu, December 15

The Supreme Court on Friday refused to register a writ filed by newly elected lawmaker from Kailali-1, Resham Lal Chaudhary, in which he had demanded that his proxy be given the election victory certificate.

The accused mastermind of 2015 Tikapur killing, Chaudhary is on the run after police accused him of the carnage; but filed nominations for House of Representatives elections through his agent. He won the polls as per results announced earlier this week.

However, he has not come to the poll officials to receive his certificate whereas the officials have denied sending it to some other people.

Therefore, Chaudhary had moved the apex court through his brother today.

But, the courts Registrar General Nahakul Subedi refused to register the case citing suspects of murder cases cannot send their proxies to register such cases.

The Court has maintained that his writ can be reconsidered if he comes in person.
