Half of the deceased in Jajarkot earthquake were children

Almost half of those killed in the earthquake on Friday were children.

According to Nepal Police, 78 of the 153 people killed in the earthquake on November 3 were children. DSP Santosh Roka said 50 children died in Jajarkot and 28 in Rukum West.

District police chief Namraj Bhattarai said that out of the 52 people who lost their lives in the earthquake in Rukum West, 28 were children.

“Two 10-month-old kids died here,” he said.

According to the Jajarkot police, out of the 105 people who lost their lives in Jajarkot, 50 were children, 33 were women, and 18 were men. In Rukum West, the quake claimed the lives of 16 women and eight men.
