Bhim Rawal to announce new party on Wednesday

Kathmandu, December 30

Bhim Rawal, a leader recently expelled from the CPN-UML, is set to announce the formation of a new political party on Wednesday, December 31.

The CPN-UML had decided to remove Rawal from the party’s organized membership on December 10, prompting him to accelerate preparations for establishing a new political organisation. Since his expulsion, Rawal has intensified political consultations.

According to sources close to Rawal, a press conference has been scheduled for 1 pm on Wednesday at Karki Banquet in Kathmandu, where the official announcement of the new party will be made.

On Monday morning, Rawal met with Karn Malla, Vice-President of the Nepali Congress (BP), and Tara Joshi, an independent provincial assembly member from Sudurpaschim Province. Malla is a former president of the Congress Dadeldhura chapter.

The meeting took place at Rawal’s residence in Tokha. Sources revealed that Rawal proposed uniting individuals who have faced injustice within their respective parties to form a strong political force.

Malla’s alignment with Nepali Congress (BP) followed his strained relations with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, against whom he contested in the 2022 general elections.

Tara Joshi, formerly a central member of the CPN (Unified Socialist), became an independent candidate for Sudurpaschim Province Assembly after being denied a ticket in the 2022 elections. He was elected from Province Assembly Constituency-2 in Dadeldhura.
