The death toll in a flood in Dhorpatan municipality of Baglung has reached 14 as of Friday morning. Over 30 locals are still missing and the search is underway.
DSP Rajendra Regmi of the District Police Office says four of the victims have been identified whereas the identity of 10 other victims is yet to be ascertained. The identified bodies will undergo postmortem today itself whereas unidentified bodies have been kept at Burtibang-based Primary Health Centre.
Police Inspector Prakash Singh Bhandari, who is actively engaged in rescue efforts, says many of the bodies are so much damaged that it is hard to identify them.
A flooded stream had washed away around 40 houses in different wards of the municipality on Wednesday night. The exact number of missing persons is not known yet as some of the houses also had their guests.
