Kathmandu, March 18

The Tanahun District Court has extended the remand of actor Paul Shah, who is in police custody in the district in connection with a rape charge, by five more days.

Earlier, after the arrest, he was kept in custody for seven days, which was extended by 12 days on March 6. As the remand was expiring today, the District Police Office had sought the extension today.

The district government attorney’s office lawyer Shiva Raj Kaphle says the court in response extended the remand.

On February 23, the alleged survivor’s father had also filed a complaint at the Tanahun District Police Office claiming Shah repeatedly raped his minor daughter.

Seeking the extension today, police had argued they could not complete the investigation as Shah was taken to the Nawalpur district to investigate against him in a similar case.

The district government attorney’s office in the Nawalpur filed a case against Paul Shah at the district court, just on Wednesday.

The office has demanded the court hand him down a 14-year jail sentence.
