Police have failed to move ahead with the investigation into the rape and murder of 13-year-old Nirmala Pant in Kanchanpur district four months ago as DNA tests of four other suspects did not provide them any clue about the criminal.
The suspects’ DNA reports did not match with the DNA report of the victim’s vaginal swab, according to DSP Krishna Raj Ojha.
Earlier, the District Police Office had sent DNA samples of four locals to the Nepal Police Central Forensic Lab for examinations. The names of the locals have not been revealed.
Before these, police had examined DNA samples of local Dilip Singh Bista, dismissed SP Dilli Raj Bista, his son Kiran, and two other suspects– Aayush Bista and Chandra Badu. But, none of them matched with the vaginal swab.
Parents of the victim have recently launched an indefinite demonstration demanding the action against the culprit.
