13 RSP central committee members elected as PR MPs

Thirteen central committee members of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have been elected to the House of Representatives through the proportional representation (PR) system. Among those selected from the central committee, 11 are women and two are men.

From the Khas Arya cluster, party treasurer Lima Adhikari (Acharya) has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives. A founding central committee member of the party, she is a new face in Parliament. She is the daughter of former UML leader Bharat Mohan Adhikari.

Deputy treasurer Basumaya Tamang has been elected as a PR lawmaker under the Janajati quota. An entrepreneur, Tamang has been producing pickles and trading them both within the country and abroad. She has also created employment opportunities through her business.

Joint spokesperson Pratibha Rawal has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives under the Khas Arya quota. Rawal previously worked at Galaxy TV alongside party president Rabi Lamichhane. She also worked in Lamichhane’s secretariat when he served as home minister and has been assisting him in his legal proceedings.

Another joint spokesperson, Ramesh Prasai, is the only male candidate elected from the Khas Arya quota. Prasai is a former television journalist.

Central committee member Krantishikha Dhital, elected under the Khas Arya cluster through proportional representation, is a psychological counsellor and also a former television presenter.

RSP central committee member Samikshya Banskota, who previously served as chairperson of Bibeksheel Sajha Party, has entered the House of Representatives for the first time through the Khas Arya quota. RSP and Bibeksheel Sajha had unified before the elections.

Former vice-chairperson of Bibeksheel Sajha, Prakash Chandra Pariyar, has also been elected as a proportional representation MP. Among the central committee members elected through PR, he is the second male lawmaker.

Central committee member Tika Sangraula has been elected as a PR lawmaker from the backward region category. Pramila Kuluju of Bhaktapur, Eliza Gurung of Gorkha, and Kusum Maharjan of Kathmandu have been selected under the Janajati cluster. Central committee members Nisha Mehta and Kamini Kumari (Chaudhary) have been chosen from the Madhesi women’s category.

RSP has secured 57 seats under the proportional representation system, of which 48 are held by women.
