13 Bibeksheel leaders oppose plan to merge with Sajha

Ajeeta Rai, a leader of Bibeksheel Nepali

Kathmandu, December 3

Thirteen central leaders of the Bibeksheel Nepali Party led by Milan Pandey have opposed the party leadership’s agreement with Rabindra Mishra-led Sajha Party for a merger between them.

The party’s vice-chairperson Ajeeta Rai and office management secretary Sangita Bataju among others have said they will not participate in the merger process. In a statement on Thursday, they, however, wished the merger would meet its objectives.

They have said the parties are going into the merger without settling their differences.

The dissidents say they are discussing how to revive the Bibeksheel Party again.

The federal committee of Bibeksheel Nepali has 35 members. With 13 withdrawing from the unification process, only 22 have remained there.
