Kathmandu, April 4

The Department of Transport Management has warned of scrapping permit issued to various transport entrepreneur associations if they continue with the strike.

The warning comes few hours before 11 transport entrepreneur committees halted their services on the Araniko Highway, hitting thousands of passengers hard.

They are protesting the government decision to issue a permit to the new company, Mayur Yatayat, on the same route.

The Department’s Director General Rup Narayan Bhattarai says a process has already begun to scrap the permit, adding the government will not listen to them as resorting to strike in the transport service is illegal.

Meanwhile, the Department called other entrepreneurs to apply for permit to give services on Kathmandu-Dhulikhel route.

“Whoever comes, we will issue the permit today itself,” Bhattarai says, “The government will also provide security to the bus operators.”
