Voter turnout 35 per cent till noon: Election Commission

Kathmandu, September 18

The Election Commission says around 35 per cent votes have already cast their votes as of 12 pm today during the third phase of local level elections in eight districts of Province 2.

The voting will continue till 5 pm today.

The Joint Election Operation Centre at Commission says voters in large numbers are lining up at voting centres in all 136 units of the districts and the voting has been peaceful and enthusiastic in overall.

Total 6,627 persons will be elected in one metropolitan city, three sub-metropolitan cities, 73 municipalities and 59 rural municipalities of Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Sarlahi, Mahottari, Rautahat, Bara and Parsa districts. More than 37,000 candidates are contesting today’s polls.
