Insta360 X4: The 360 camera gets better updates and upgrades

The fourth generation of the 360-degree camera from Insta360, the Insta360 X4 is official in Nepal. The X4 was shortly available in the Nepali market after its launch in the global market. The X4 features new updates and upgrades in terms of features to its predecessor the Insta360 X3. One of the major upgrades is the 8K recording option.

The Insta360 has recently been very popular for its range of features. The Insta360 Ace and Ace Pro, the first action camera from the brand have already done great with features including AI. The X4 has updates including 8k video resolution, larger battery capacity, Removable Lens Guards, larger screen size and a 5nm AI chip.

Design and Build

The Insta360 X4 in terms of size is bigger than the Insta360 X3. The bigger body size has allowed Insta360 to have a larger battery. The X4 is also thicker and heavier than the X3 in comparison to the X3. The Insta360 X4 Removable Lens Guards are available in Standard or Premium editions, unlike the X3 which has fixed lens guards. This helps lens protected without compromising footage quality.

It has a 2.5″ touchscreen which is larger than that of the X3 and is protected with Corning® Gorilla® Glass instead of Tempered Glass in the X3. The Corning Gorilla Glass offers better durability for seamless operation and handles rugged areas easily without harming the screen.

The 360 camera has gesture control, allowing for easy recording and photo capture with simple hand gestures, a cancel recording option to instantly undo mistakes by holding down the shutter button and a timed capture feature for capturing sunrise shots or time-lapses.

The Insta360 X4 also has waterproofing of up to 10 metres which allows for underwater recording much easier and worry-free. It also has operating temperatures from -20℃ to 40℃ making it suitable in extreme cold and hot temperatures. The overall build and design of the X4 make it a durable and strong 360 camera option.

Camera

The Insta360 X4 is equipped with a 1/2-inch sensor and an aperture of F 1.9 for sharp and bright images even in challenging lighting conditions. It has a 35mm equivalent focal length of 6.7mm for capturing a wide range of scenes.

In terms of resolution, the Insta360 X4 offers photo resolutions of 72MP (11904×5952) and 18MP (5888×2944), providing users with the flexibility to capture detailed images. When it comes to video, the X4 supports various resolutions and frame rates.

In 360º Mode, users can capture footage in resolutions ranging from 8K at 30/25/24fps, 4K at frame rates of 100/60/50/30/25/24fps and 5.7K+ resolution at 30/25/24fps for clarity and detail. For single-lens mode, the X4 supports resolutions up to 4K at 60/50/30/25/24fps and me mode further expands the options with resolutions up to 4K at 30/25/24fps and 2.7K at higher frame rates of 120/100/60/50fps, as well as 1080p at 120/100/60/50fps for smooth and detailed motion capture.

The Insta360 X4 has features for both photos and videos. For photos, it has options like HDR, interval, starlapse, and burst. In video mode, features like active HDR, timelapse, timeshift, bullet time, loop recording, and Pre-recording enhance the video recording experience. Users can choose from standard, vivid, or flat colour profiles for their choice of profiles.

Furthermore, the Insta360 X4 puts control in your hands with customizable settings for exposure, ISO, shutter speed, and white balance. It has an exposure value range of ±4EV and an ISO range from 100 to 64000. The adjustable shutter speed, ranging from 1/8000 to 120 seconds for photos and up to the limit of frames per second for videos, allows for precise control over motion and exposure. Additionally, the white balance settings ranging from 2000k to 10000K help capture accurate colour reproduction.

Battery and Others

The Insta360 X4 comes equipped with a larger 2290mAh battery. It has fast charging capabilities allowing it to reach 80 per cent capacity in just 38 minutes and fully charge in 55 minutes using a 9V 2A charger. Once fully charged, the X4 offers an impressive runtime of up to 135 minutes.

The Insta360 X4 offers versatile audio options to enhance your recordings with modes like auto wind reduction, active wind reduction, stereo, and direction focus for a clear and immersive sound in various environments. The audio format is set at 48 kHz, 16 bits, AAC, ensuring high-quality audio output. It features 4 built-in microphones to capture sound from all directions.

For seamless connectivity, the Insta360 X4 supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, compatible with 802.11a/b/g/n/ac standards, ensuring fast and stable wireless connections for data transfer and remote control. Additionally, bluetooth 5.2 technology enables efficient pairing with compatible devices.

The Insta360 X4 also features a 5nm AI chip which levels up the game. The 5nm AI chip helps deliver superior image quality, power efficiency, and performance. With a 140% increase in computing power and full pixel sampling at 11K resolution, the X4 produces detailed 8K panoramic video.
