Kathmandu, June 22
A meeting of the executive body of Kathmandu Metropolitan City has decided to give a new mobile phone to each of its members including the newly elected Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
There are total 40 members in the body including 32 ward chairpersons and eight other members besides the two top office bearers.
Whereas the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor can choose the phone sets for them, others will be provided with Rs 30,000 each for the purchase.
Likewise, the KMC will pay total phone bills of the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor. Other members will be given Rs 2,500 a month each.
Meanwhile, the meeting allocated Rs 3.5 million for various benefits of the Executive members including the telephone service.
Allowances for meeting
The meeting also decided to give Rs 1,500 to both the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor as meeting allowance at every executive meeting.
Other members will get Rs 1,000 each.
Likewise, every participant of the meeting will get Rs 1,000 as transportation allowance. Those using vehicles from the KMC, however, will not be given the transportation allowance.
