KMC focused on quality service: Mayor Shah

Kathmandu, December 15

Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), Balendra Shah, has informed that KMC was for minimising operation cost and increasing quality in its services. In his address at the 31st anniversary function of KMC here today, Mayor Shah said the remit of house rent tax was widened and the tax citizens pay is utilised for the citizens themselves.

Mayor Shah shared information on the infrastructure-related projects, including road upgrading and traffic light installation. As part of the nighttime urban beautification campaign, 13,340 electric lights were installed in Kathmandu. In the last fiscal year, KMC carried out the infrastructural projects worth Rs 2.86 billion. The heritage conservation made up Rs 910 million.

So far, the local level has retrieved 208 ropanis of public land worth Rs 23 billion. Locally available resources and skills are given priority for entrepreneurship promotion. Transfer of indigenous skills will be materialised through ‘one ward: one scheme’.

The regular work areas for KMC are the economic, social and administrative ones. Urban sanitation and e-governance have been forwarded with equal importance, according to Mayor Shah.
