Five more kg of gold recovered in Kanchanpur

Kathmandu, February 15

Police officials, who confiscated 18 kg gold in Kanchanpur on Thursday, have confiscated five more kilograms of the precious metal late on Thursday night.

According to SP Kuber Kadayat, an additional 5.6 kg gold was found in the house of Laxman Tiruwa, who was arrested on Thursday after investigators found 18 kg gold in his brother’s father-in-law’s house.  Upon interrogation, Tiruwa and his brother disclosed the location of the gold.

Police believe that the gold was being smuggled to Nepal via India. Laxman, who works as a driver in India, had brought the gold and handed it over to his brother and Nepal Police personnel Suraj, who hid the gold in the house of his in-laws. The confiscated gold and the smugglers are being kept at Kanchanpur’s District Police Office while the investigation continues.
