Yadav warns against exit polls before Dec 7

Ayodhee Prasad Yadav

Kathmandu, November 27

Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav says no organisation or person can conduct exit polls before the second phase of provincial and federal parliamentary elections scheduled for December 7.

Yadav clarifies that conducting exit polls will be a violation of the election code of conduct as voting is yet to be concluded. He says the code will be in effect from the nomination of candidacy to the announcement of results.

Speaking with journalists in Kathmandu, Yadav said exit polls would affect preparations for free, fair and credible elections.

Meanwhile, he also urged media not to give any space to results of exit polls before the Commission formally announces results.
