Kathmandu, April 18
Nepal’s anti-corruption constitutional body, Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), has summoned five foreign companies in connection with reported irregularities in the purchase of two wide body aircraft for the national flag carrier, Nepal Airlines Corporation.
The Commission has given seven days for Hi Fly X Ireland, AAR Corp of the United Stages, German Aviation Capital GmbH, Hi Fly of Portugal and Norton Rose Fulbright of Germany to come before the investigators.
If the companies’ representatives fail to pay heed to the notice, the Commission will move ahead following due procedures, the Commission has warned.
So far, the Commission recorded statements of officials of the NAC in connection with the case.
Earlier, Public Accounts Committee of Parliament had carried out an investigation into the irregularities. The Committee handed over its report to the Commission, directing a further probe.
