Kathmandu, May 15
The Federal Alliance is encircling Singhadurbar, the government secretariat, as part of its continued effort to make the state address its demands. Parties affiliated to the alliance, including Madheshi parties, have obstructed traffic movement on major entry points leading to Singhadurbar.
Police have barred four-wheelers from proceeding further towards Singhadurbar or Baneshwor from Thapathali. The largest of the groups participating in the Kathmandu-centric protest has gathered at Maitighar. There’s a huge security presence there. Protesters have also congregated in front of the Kathmandu district administration office at Babar Mahal. A group of protesters also vandalised the bus numbered Ba 1 Jha 3610. No clash has occurred between police and protesters so far.
Upendra Yadav of Federal Socialist Forum and Rajendra Mahato of Sadbhavana Party will lead the protest at Maitighar, whereas Tarai-Madhesh Democratic Party and other small parties will be in charge at Hanumansthan. Leaders from Janajati parties will be in those places too.
