US Undersecretary Uzra Zeya calls on PM Deuba

Kathmandu, May 22

The United States Undersecretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights and US Special Coordinator for Tibetan IssuesUzra Zeya, has held a meeting with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Sunday morning.

“We exchanged views on Nepal-US relations and matters of mutual interests,” Deuba wrote on Twitter after the meeting.

Meanwhile, Zeya is scheduled to meet Foreign Affairs Minister Narayan Khadka, Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand and Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi today itself.

According to media reports, Uzra Zeya also interacted with representatives of Tibetan refugees in Kathmandu although the government had suggested she should not do this as it would affect Nepal’s “one China” policy.

The official had arrived in Nepal on Friday on an official visit.
