UML, Maoists sort out constituency distribution in Kathmandu Valley

The CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre, which have agreed to partner in the upcoming provincial and federal parliamentary elections, have sorted out constituency distribution among their candidates in Kathmandu Valley.

There are 15 federal and 30 provincial constituencies in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts.

According to an agreement made between the parties, the UML will get 11 federal and 23 provincial constituencies. The Maoists will get four federal and seven provincial constituencies.

In Kathmandu, there are 10 federal and 20 provincial constituencies. Here, the Maoists will get three federal (Constituencies 6, 8 and 10) and three provincial constituencies (from six of constituencies 3, 6 and 10).

In Lalitpur, there are three federal and six provincial constituencies. Here, the Maoist candidates will contest in one federal (Constituency 3) and three provincial constituencies (one each from constituencies 1, 2 and 3).

In Bhaktapur, there are two federal and four provincial constituencies. Here, the Maoists will get one provincial seat only.

The UML will field its candidates in remaining constituencies.
