UDMF bracing for another movement, Thursday’s meeting to discuss new strategies

Kathmandu, March 9

The United Democratic Madheshi Front has called a meeting on Thursday to review the changing political scenario and chart out future strategies. The meeting will take place at the office of Tarai-Madhesh Democratic Party in Bijuli Bazaar. Political pundits are watching the UDMF meeting, taking place right after the 13th general convention of the Nepali Congress, with keen interest.

Manis Suman, general secretary of the Sadbhavana Party, said the meeting will discuss a host of issues, including the movement that the front had launched in recent past. The front is launching a movement meant to pile pressure on the government to address its demands after submitting a memorandum to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

On March 18, the UDMF plans to organise protest assemblies in Madhesh districts and shout the movement’s slogans. On the day of Holi, the front will burn lawmakers, who endorsed the new constitution, in effigies.
