Traffic police van hits pedestrian to death in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, August 14

A traffic police van hit a pedestrian to death in Koteshwar of Kathmandu on Tuesday night. The victim is yet to be identified.

The van (Ba 1 Jha 7866) of Metropolitan Traffic Police Division was carrying personnel deployed to look out for untoward activities on the road during nighttime. It hit the person under the pedestrian bridge between Balkumari and Koteshwar at around 11:10 pm.

Seriously injured in the accident, the person was rushed to the Trauma Centre of Bir Hospital, but doctors there pronounced him dead on Wednesday morning.

Police have suspected that the victim was a homeless person who used to stay on the roadside as they saw some sacks around.

“We are trying to ascertain the identity,” DSP Hobindra Bogati from the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu says.
