Kathmandu, September 4

A security guard has been arrested after asking Tourism Minister Jeevan Ram Shrestha to stand in a queue.

Shrestha was at the VFS Global Visa Application Centre in Chhaya Center in Thamel to give his biometric details and submit his visa application form for Canada. The security guard requested him to stand in the queue like everyone else.

But, the tourism minister, who had come with his personal security officer, tried to jump the queue and enter the office, after which he was stopped by the security guard. Shrestha’s security officer had told the guard that Shershta was a minister, but the guard told him it did not matter and Shrestha, like everyone else, had to stand in the queue.

Then, the ministry filed a complaint against the security guard, after which Nepal Police officials arrested him accusing him of indecent behaviour.

The arrested security guard has been identified as Sher Jung Gurung who works for Garud Securities.
