Kathmandu, September 19
International flights were briefly disrupted in Kathmandu on Thursday due to problems with the distance measuring equipment (DME) and VHF omnidirectional range (VOR) at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
TIA’s spokesperson Pratap Babu Tiwari said that the problem was solved and that aeroplanes have started to land at TIA. Tiwari said that the airport team had found a problem with the two equipment at around 10:48 am and repaired them around 12:20 pm.
Seven different aircraft were circling the valley waiting for permission to land. The two equipment measures that distance between the airport and the aircraft along with the direction of the aircraft.
