Biratnagar, June 26
Three persons have died when an SUV hit them in Kanepokhari of Morang along the East-West Highway on Thursday night.
Two men travelling on a motorbike and a pedestrian woman died when the Scorpio hit them at around 8:30 pm, according to DSP Dileep Giri of Pathari Area Police Office.
The vehicle coming towards Itahari from Damak of the neighbouring Jhapa district (Ba 14 Cha 9643) hit the bike (Me 10 Pa 2756) head-on after the driver lost control over the vehicle.
The victims have been identified as Gajendra Bahadur Gurung (38) from Phidim-2 of Panchthar, and Lokendra Bahadur Limbu (31) from Barhadashi-4 of Jhapa, according to police. The third victim, the woman who appears to be in her mid-40s, is not identified yet.
Gurung died during treatment at Nobel Medical College whereas Limbu breathed his last while being taken to a hospital. The woman died on the spot.
Police have arrested the SUV driver, Mahendra Bahadur Thapa from Itahari-4 of Sunsari, for further investigation.
