Sushma Swaraj, Ajit Doval arriving to pay tributes to Sushil Koirala

Kathmandu, February 9

India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is arriving in Kathmandu at 5 pm on Tuesday to pay tributes to Nepal’s former prime minister and Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala. Accompanying her are Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s national security adviser Ajit Doval, communist leader Sitaram Yechury, Sharad Yadav and Anand Sharma. They all will leave for New Delhi at 8 pm.

Nepal’s Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa had informed the Cabinet about Swaraj’s planned visit during Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting that decided to perform Koirala’s last rites with state honours, on Wednesday.

After paying tributes to Koirala, Swaraj will call on Prime Minister KP Oli, Gopal Khanal, PM Oli’s foreign affairs adviser, said. Swaraj will return to Delhi at 8 pm, Rai said.
