Surprised by allegations of bribery, says medical education council deputy chief

Kathmandu, January 8

Medical Education Council deputy chief Shree Krishna Giri says he is surprised by allegations of bribery levelled against him by B&C Medical College owner Durga Prasain.

Prasain, at a press conference in Kathmandu on Wednesday, claimed that Giri demanded Rs 200 million in exchange for the council’s affiliation for his college. Prasain also said that Giri demanded a 10 per cent stake in the college after he refused to do so.

Giri, who hastily organised another press conference, warned Prasain that he will take legal recourse against his comments. “I was surprised by the allegations which were completely made up. I regret it,” he said adding that he did not visit Dwarika’s Hotel on December 1 as claimed by Prasain.
