Kathmandu, September 23

Thirteen student unions on Friday urged Tribhuvan University to make the schedule for Free Student Union elections public and move ahead with a view to conducting the polls.

They also called TU to enroll students at Institute of Medicine on inclusive basis in keeping with a verdict that the Supreme Court issued a month ago. Student leaders also urged TU to provide health insurance for students studying in TU-affiliated campuses. The student bodies made these demands while submitting a memorandum to TU Vice-chancellor Professor Tirtha Khaniya.

ANNISU-R Spokesperson Surendra Basnet quoted Professor Khaniya as saying that TU will conduct FSU elections on February 25 at all costs.

NSU President Nain Singh Mahar, ANNFSU Chair Navina Lama, ANNISU-R Vice-chair Ranjit Tamang, among other student leaders, had reached TU in Kirtipur to hand over their memorandum.
