Shekhar Koirala vows to make sacrifices for party unity

Kathmandu, September 6

Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has said he is ready to make any sacrifices necessary from his side to maintain unity within the party.

During a meeting with party President Gagan Thapa on Sunday, Koirala said the country, democracy and national interests were currently facing difficult circumstances. “He made it clear that there is no alternative to keeping the party united and that he is ready to make whatever sacrifices are necessary from his side for this purpose,” Koirala’s secretariat said, describing his remarks during the meeting.

In response, President Thapa said he too was in favour of maintaining party unity. The two leaders discussed ways to resolve internal problems within the Nepali Congress as well as the situation in flood-affected areas. They also discussed the latest situation in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading.
