The Shekhar Koirala-Gagan Thapa faction within the Nepali Congress has officially demanded at least four ministerial positions in the upcoming cabinet.

During a meeting held at Shekhar Koirala’s secretariat in Bishalnagar, the faction resolved that out of the total ministerial positions allocated to the Nepali Congress, their group should receive four. This decision was confirmed by leader Arjun Narasingh KC, who attended the meeting. The authority to select the ministers from the group has been delegated to Shekhar Koirala, Gagan Thapa, and Dhanraj Gurung.

The meeting was attended by prominent leaders including Shekhar Koirala, Gagan Thapa, Dhanraj Gurung, Badri Pandey, Jeevan Pariyar, Arjun Narasingh KC, Balbahadur KC, Dilendra Badu, Dr Minendra Rijal, and Dr Chandra Bhandari.

This move comes amid ongoing discussions about the distribution of ministerial positions within the party, signalling a strategic push by the Shekhar-Gagan faction to secure significant representation in the government.
