Birgunj, August 20

A central leader of Deputy Prime Minister Upendra Yadav’s Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal has warned that the Madhesh-centric party may resort to a border blockade like that of 2015 again if Nepal decides to install barbed wire fences along the border line with India.

Lawmaker Pradeep Yadav says the Eminent Persons’ Group on Nepal-India Relations is going to recommend installing fences along the border line, and hence objects to the preparation.

He says such activities will jeopardise the harmonious relations the two countries have been sharing for years.

Speaking at a function in his hometown Birgunj of Parsa district today, “It has been learned that the Group recommended installing wire fences and requiring passports to move across the border. But, the two countries are closely connected for ages and these recommendations are efforts to end that.”

“We will not let it happen.”
