RJPN general strike affects life in Province 2

A road is obstructed in Janakpur owing to a bandh called by the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal against the second phase of local level elections scheduled for June 28, on Tuesday, June 13, 2017.

Kathmandu, June 13

Daily life of public has been affected in eight districts of Province 2 owing to a general strike called by the agitating Rastriya Janata Party Nepal.

Life in cities of these districts including Rajbiraj, Janakpur, Gaur and Bigunj has been adversely hit hard for want of public transportation.

Though the bandh was called for all districts of Terai-Madhesh, the impact is very nominal in other places outside the Province 2.

Public transportation is smooth in Biratnagar of Morang district whereas markets and industries are open.

In Biratnagar, Upendra Yadav-led Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal and Bijay Kumar Gachhadar-led Nepal Democratic Party are more influential than the RJPN. Both Yadav and Gachhadar’s parties are preparing for the second phase of local level elections scheduled for June 28.

Security has been beefed up in all Terai districts to prevent any untoward incident.
