Retired officer reports unidentified persons shot bullet at his house in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, July 30

Former undersecretary of the government, Bishnu Prasad Sharma, has complained that some unidentified persons opened fire outside his house in Kalanki of Kathmandu and its bullet entered his house.

The bullet smashed a windowpane of his daughter’s room and arrived inside, according to Sharma. The 19-year-old daughter was said to be studying when the incident happened at around 9 pm on Monday, according to the family.

After being informed by the family, police visited the house and found a 2.2 mm bullet, according to Uttam Raj Subedi, chief of the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu.

“Such small bullets are used in hunting,” he says, adding police are investigating to find out who opened fire with what intention.

Police have suspected that it was an accidental, but not intentional, incident.

“We have launched an investigation into people in the neighbourhood who have received licence to possess guns,” SSP Subedi says, “Further details will be revealed after we nab the suspects.”
