Popular actress Rekha Thapa has said she left the Rastriya Prajatantra Party led by Kamal Thapa and defected to the newly formed RPP-Democratic under the leadership of Pashupati Shamsher Rana.
Rana had split the party on Sunday.
Rekha on Tuesday visited RPP-Democratic leader Deepak Bohora and handed over a letter to him confirming she is with them.
“I have chosen the RPP-Democratic as I agree with its political line,” she told Onlinekhabar, adding she had never supported monarchy. Whereas monarchy was the agenda of unified RPP, the RPP-Democratic has hinted that it would accept federal democratic republicanism.
Before joining the RPP, the actress was associated with the then UCPN-Maoist.
