Rawal accuses Bhattarai of making unconstitutional remarks

Nepal Communist Party leader and former Home Minister Bhim Rawal has accused Samajwadi Party leader and former Prime Minister Babu Ram Bhattarai of disrupting social harmony in Tikapur and airing unconstitutional remarks.

Speaking at the anniversary of the ‘Tharu uprising’ in Tikapur on Saturday, Bhattarai said that the Tikapur incident was the beginning of a Tharu uprising and such rebellions were needed to bring change in society.

Rawal, referring to Bhattarai’s remarks, said that the former Maoist leader, along with other leaders who spoke in Tikapur were spreading a negative message and called it a conspiracy against the current government. Rawal. in a tweet, condemned Bhattarai and mentioned that nine people lost their lives during the incident. He asked Bhattarai if he would be happy if people lost lives in again another uprising.

Bhattarai, during his address, had also condemned the arrest of Resham Chaudary.

Rawal said that Bhattarai, along with others from Kathmandu who had gone to Tikapur, were spreading lies and provoking local people. Speaking to Onlinekhabar Rawal said, “What was his motive? Was it to prove the people and create another incident like that? He’s been the Prime Minister of this country. He should know better that things like these will create problems in the future. It will disrupt harmony.”
