Rain likely on voting day: Meteorologists

Kathmandu, May 9

Meteorologists have said the day of voting under the first phase of local level elections in Nepal, May 14, is likely to witness rainfall in various parts of the country.

Meteorologist Samir Shrestha tells Onlinekhabar that the rainfall system, which is active in eastern and central regions of Nepal since Monday, might last till May 14.

“Though the rainfall will not be incessant,” he says, “It will regularly rain in mornings and evenings.”

The rainfall, however, will not affect the western region of the country.

Met officials have held a low-pressure system in western Nepal and the moisture wind from Bay of Bengal responsible for the rainfall.

According to the AccuWeather, Nepal will witness a “mostly cloudy and humid weather with a shower or thunderstorm around” on the voting day.

It has forecast precipitation for 1.5 hours on the day.

Meanwhile, electioneering has been affected by the rainfall.
