Kathmandu, December 12
Qatar Airways says it will launch direct flights between Kathmandu and St Petersburg, the second biggest city of Russia, from next week.
The announcement was made at a function organised in Kathmandu recently in the presence of Russian Ambassador to Nepal Аndrey Sergeyevich Budnikand and Qatar Airways Nepal Country Manager Jay Prakash Nair.
Speaking at the function, Ambassador Budnikand hoped that Russian mountaineers, trekkers and sports enthusiast could come to Nepal in a big way making the use of Qatar flights between Moscow and St Petersburg and Kathmandu. He added that Russians would also be interested in cultural and religious activities like yoga and meditation too.
He further hoped that the FIFA World Cup would boost the movement between Nepal and Russia.
