The Province 5 government has launched a campaign to clean up a section of the East-West Highway to mark the completion of one year since the formation of the government.
The Shankar Pokhrel-led government will complete its first year on Friday.
On the eve, the government launched the campaign to clean the section that lies in the province from Nawalparasi to Bardiya.
Chief Minister Pokhrel attended an event organised to mark the launch of the campaign in Butwal today. Addressing the function, he called on members of the public to cooperate with the government in making the province clean.
He directed local government officials to clean up the road every week.
In response, Butwal Submetropolitan City Mayor Shiva Raj Subedi said he was committed to making the city clean and green.
Meanwhile, the provincial government has announced a public holiday on Friday to commemorate the establishment day.
