Along with checking if drivers are under the influence of alcohol, traffic police in Province 2 have decided to check if they have taken drugs also.
Chief of the Province 2 Traffic Police Officer, SP Yog Bahadur Pal, informs that the campaign is launched as the trend of taking drugs has increased among drivers in the region.
The drive has already begun in Bara and Saptari districts recently, according to him.
While police examined urine of 53 drivers of Bara and 10 of Saptari, two persons have been found under the influence of marijuana, Pal informs.
Police detain the drivers if urine tests reveal that they are under the influence of drugs and release them after charging a fine and making them commit against repeating it.
The drive will be extended to all eight districts of the province within a few days, according to him.
