Update: Prime Minister announces relief for Saptari flood victims

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has announced a relief package worth Rs 25,000 to each family displaced by recent floods in Saptari district.

During a visit to the flood-affected areas this morning, the Prime  Minister said the government was with the victims and directed local authorities to immediately manage food for them.

He also said the government would also manage for a loan up to Rs 1.5 million at a subsidised rate.

Deuba was accompanied by Home Minister Janardan Sharma during the visit.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will visit various places of Saptari district which have recently been affected by floods, says the Chief District Officer Krishna Bahadur Katuwal.

The Prime Minister will visit Bhediyamanth, Mainakaderi and Raghunathpur villages, according to Katuwal.

Dozens of households had been inundated in the villages by a flood in Mahulikhola recently.

Deuba will also interact with the victims.
