Upper Trishuli III A Hydropower Project site in Nuwakot

Kathmandu, November 18

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is inaugurating the 60-megawatt Upper Trishuli III A Hydropower Project on Monday.

Oli will switch on the power transmission from his office in Kathmandu whereas Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barsha Man Pun will inaugurate the project at the project site in Simle, Kispang rural municipality-5 of Nuwakot today.

The project had begun a test transmission in the first phase on May 17 and the second phase on August 2 this year. Nepal Electricity Authority says the project can produce 1.44 million unit electricity every day.

It is expected that the project can be a big help in balancing the power transmission system of Kathmandu Valley as it is close to the valley and can produce power during the winter season also.

It will contribute eight per cent power to the country’s total energy consumption.
