Kathmandu, January 22
Police in Kathmandu have hinted that they are flexible about the action to be taken against singer Astha Raut.
Since Wednesday last week, Raut is in controversy. On that day, she posted a live video on her Facebook page, accusing a police staffer at the Tribhuvan International Airport of misbehaving with her. While complaining of abuse, Raut used disrespectful and offensive words against the police organisation.
After the accused police staffer also filed a complaint, accusing Raut of misbehaviour, police submitted a report to the District Police Office, seeking her arrest for the offence. The office has already issued an arrest warrant.
Hence, Raut’s supporters fear that she might get arrested upon her arrival in Kathmandu. “But this cannot be confirmed now,” SSP Uttam Raj Subedi, the chief of the Metropolitan Police Range in Kathmandu, says, “We rush for the arrest only in order to let the victim feel justice. It depends on the case.”
