Astha Raut released on bail

Singer Astha Raut, accused of indecent behaviour, is released on bail, on Tuesday, January 28, 2020.

Kathmandu, January 28

A day after her ‘arrest’, police singer Astha Raut has been released from police custody on Tuesday. Kathmandu’s Chief District Officer Janak Raj Dahal released her on the bail of Rs 4,000.

Earlier, the District Government Attorney Office had filed a charge sheet against her based on a report of the police investigation.

The DAO had sent her to custody for four days on Monday. But, the decision draw flak from the public, forcing the police to conclude the investigation on the second day and file the case via the attorney on the same day. After the filing of the case, the CDO ordered her release.

Following the arrest, Raut was hospitalised on Monday evening after she complained of hypertension.

On Monday morning, Raut, accused of ‘indecent behaviour’ with a policewoman at the Tribhuvan International Airport on January 15, had ‘surrendered’ to police. Police were given a warrant for her arrest but she was out of the country.
