Police arrest five persons after youth shot at in Kathmandu in the wee hours

Kathmandu, October 22

A youth sustained injuries as he was shot at, in Mhaipi of Kathmandu in the wee hours of Sunday.

The Metropolitan Police Range says Kalyan Gurung was on his scooter when an unidentified gang blocked his way and opened fire before fleeing the scene at around 3:30 am today.

Following the incident, police arrested five persons for investigation, according to MPR Chief Rabindra Dhanuk.

A preliminary police investigation has found that two groups of youth had a scuffle at a Lainchaur-based dance restaurant last night and the shooting is connected to that incident.

Police have taken this morning’s incident as an alarm about possible risks from small weapons.

Around two weeks ago, construction entrepreneur Sharad Kumar Gauchan was shot dead in Naya Baneshwor of Kathmandu.
