Police arrest 20 Biplav cadres for staging anti-India protest

Kathmandu, November 10

Police have arrested 20 cadres associated with Netra Bikram Chand ‘Bipalv’-led Nepal Communist Party for staging an anti-India demonstration in Kathmandu.

The splinter group on November 6 had said it would start a protest programme condemning the actions of India. India, on November 2, released a new political map showing Kalapani and Lipulekh, also claimed by Nepal, on its side.

SSP Uttam Raj Subedi said that the splinter group had brought students for the protest programme held in Maitighar.

“We’ve arrested 20 so far. I think this number is likely to increase,” SSP Subedi added. He further added that those arrested had been taken to the Metropolitan Police Circle, Singhadurbar and Nepal Police Club, Bhrikutimandap.
