Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba says the government has tightened security for candidates contesting upcoming provincial and federal parliamentary polls, adding the attacks on candidates will not repeat.

He also warns of stern action against those involved in recent attacks against candidates in various parts of the country.

Speaking with journalists in his home district of Dadeldhura this morning, Deuba, who also looks after the Ministry of Home Affairs currently, said he would soon hold a meeting with security agencies to ensure that the incidents would not repeat.

The Prime Minister maintained that all four security bodies–Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department–were directed to stay alert to prevent violence before and during polls.

Deuba said he would call a meeting of the National Security Council to prepare new strategies for the polls as soon as he would go to the capital on Monday.
