Kathmandu, November 16

Now on, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will hold daily discussions with concerned officials on progress achieved in mega infrastructure projects. Such discussions will take place in the first hour and will last about an hour.

The Office of the Prime Minister said that PM Prachanda is taking this initiative as he is worried about sorry state of physical infrastructure development in the country.

“PM is focusing on physical infrastructure development and upgradation as well as expansion of roads,” Tankamani Sharma, Secretary at the Economic Infrastructure Development Division (EIDD) under the PMO, said. He informed that they will remove obstructions in completion of projects and take action against those officials, who do not perform.

PM Prachanda called Devendra Karki, director-general at the Department of Roads, and pointed that almost every road had potholes. PM wanted to know why the department had not bothered to repair the roads. He directed the department to patch up potholes and speed up road expansion as well as upgradation works.

This is not the first time that PM has directed the department to repair roads and make them safer.

At the same time, Prachanda has directed the EIDD to brief him every fortnight about progress in the development of projects of national pride.
