PM launches campaign to cover Kathmandu electrical wires underground

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Monday inaugurated a campaign to cover electrical wires underground in the Kathmandu Valley.

The first phase of the campaign will start from the areas under the Ratnapark and Maharajgunj-based distribution centres of Nepal Electricity Authority.

Under Maharajgunj centre are the places such as Baluwatar, Panipokhari, Budhanilakantha, Tokha, Gongabu, Samakushi, Dhapasi, Basundhara, Shivapuri, Chunikhel, Sukedhara, Dharmasthali and Teaching Hospital area. The areas will have an 11,000-voltage line and a 400-voltage line along with 250 km of optical fibres.

Likewise, under the Ratnapark centre, areas like Ratnapark, Bagbazaar, Putalisadak, New Road, Anamnagar, Jamal, Lainchaur, Thamel, Naxal, Sorhakhutte, Tripureshwor, Teku, Thapathali, Maitighar, Singhadurbar, Lazimpat, Gaushala, Airport, Baneshwor, Chabahil, Bouddha and Jorpati will have the wires underground. It also will have an 11,000-voltage line of 200 km and a 400-voltage line of 400 km.

Nepal Electricity Authority hopes that the city will look more beautiful once the campaign will be over.
