PM directs officials to fix Kathmandu road potholes within 15 days

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba meets ministers and officials in Kathmandu, on Sunday, July 16, 2017.

Kathmandu, July 16

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Sunday directed concerned authorities to fix all potholes on roads of Kathmandu within next 15 days.

Claiming that his attention was drawn from the incident in which a schoolgirl drowned in a pit on a road in Nepaltar of Kathmandu during the rain on Friday, the Prime Minister today directed concerned ministers and officials to renovate roads and pavements in the capital.

He said the government was ready to allocate additional budget  if required.

“The government is made for people. We must solve people’s problems at any cost” he said, “We cannot differentiate Kathmandu roads from ponds. We cannot say that it is a metropolitan city.”

“What are you doing?” he directed, “Please immediately fix the potholes. I will provide more budget if necessary.”

He also directed Nepal Telecom, Nepal Electricity Authority and Department of Roads to make coordination with each-other so that same roads would not be dug time and again for different purposes.
